Professional Disability Awareness Training (PDAT) For Sex Workers

This workshop is exclusively for sex workers and aims to increase knowledge, skills & confidence in providing services to clients with a range of disabilities. Some clients (or their support workers and families) feel more secure organising an appointment with a worker who’s had awareness training or previous experience working with clients with disability.  

PLEASE NOTE: To be eligible you must have been providing sex services for a minimum of three (3) months.

Goals

  • Progress the concept of professional training being made available to sex workers and sex industry staff who wish to gain greater awareness and skills in working with clients who have a range of special needs
  • Assist sex workers and sex industry staff to challenge myths and prejudices they or their workplace may have regarding clients with disability
  • Inform participants of the diverse sexuality of people with disability
  • Educate participants on how discrimination may create barriers for people with disability to access the sexual lifestyles of their choice – including accessing sex workers and sex services premises
  • Inform on better practice for providing accessible services to people with disability
  • Inform on how to arrange services through a third party (personal care attendant, family member or friend of client, etc)


When?

This workshop is being held over two x 3 hour live online training sessions.

Online PDAT Part 1: 1pm - 4pm AEST  Friday 2nd June 2023

Online PDAT Part 2: 1pm - 4pm AEST  Friday 9th June 2023

Participants are required to attend both workshop sessions - which will be interactive with group activities and plenty of group discussions.

Certificate of Attendance - in your nominated name/s

Cost
$125.00
This covers the cost of both sessions.  


Limited number of participants
This workshop is limited to a maximum of 10 participants. Registrations will close as soon as the first 10 sex workers register – so don’t delay if you want to attend!

Waiting List
We will be operating a waiting list for these specific workshops in case someone withdraws their registration. So if you do miss out on being in the first ten workers to register you can still register for the waiting list.
