Touching Base Inc is making a series of videos about sexuality, relationships, consent, and access to sexual support for disabled people.

Here is a link to Easy Read information about this project:

These is a also Glossary of Terms at the bottom of this page that explains some of the words we have used below.

These six videos will support sexual rights, independence and inclusion, and help break down barriers around disability and sexuality. People will be able to watch them on our website, our Vimeo channel, and in our training and advocacy.

We will also make an advocacy toolkit to use with the videos.

We are working closely with the disability community at every stage of this project to make sure it is authentic and accurate.

The filming for this project will take place between 30th July and 30th August, 2026 but each participant will only be needed for one shoot day and one preparation day. Days and times will be locked in around participants’ availability.

We’re seeking participants in Australia, aged 18+ with lived experience of disability who wish to share their perspectives, experiences or insights relating to:

  • Disability and sexuality
  • Relationships and intimacy
  • Navigating sexual supports
  • Sexual consent, autonomy and communication
  • Access barriers and inclusion
  • Personal experiences of advocacy, empowerment or discrimination

We welcome participants from a broad range of disability experiences, cultural backgrounds, gender identities, sexual orientations, ages, relationship experiences and locations across Australia.

Depending on your level of comfort and interest, participation will include:

  • Being interviewed on camera and/or having your voice recorded
  • Sharing personal experiences or perspectives
  • Participating in discussions or filmed activities

Touching Base is committed to creating a respectful, safe and trauma-informed process for all participants. Before filming, all participants will receive detailed information about:

  • How the videos will be used
  • Who will see them
  • Privacy and consent
  • Options available to protect identity and anonymous participation

Participants will take part in an informed consent process and will have opportunities to ask questions before agreeing to participate.

Participants may withdraw their consent at any stage of the project and Touching Base may replace them with a new participant. We respect the autonomy, safety and dignity of every participant.

We understand that some people may wish to contribute to the project without being seen or heard  on screen. The team will discuss with you how best to do this in this project.

We encourage all participants who are willing, to describe how hard they’ve worked to be seen as valued, contributing members of society, and the great friendships they’ve developed in their life as a result, whilst also explaining how stigma and public opinion has made it difficult for them to pursue a more intimate/sexual relationship that they might be looking for.
