Intimate Inclusion Video Series
Touching Base is seeking expressions of interest from individuals interested in joining a volunteer Steering Committee for an upcoming video project on sexuality and disability.
Touching Base is producing a series of six advocacy videos exploring sexual activities involving people with disability, with the aim of creating respectful, inclusive and informative resources that support sexual rights, autonomy and wellbeing. This project is titled, Intimate Inclusion: People with Disability Navigating Sexual Supports Video Series.
These videos will be developed in close consultation with the disability community to ensure they reflect real experiences, diversity and dignity.
For the Steering Committee, we are looking for people with one or more of the below:
- Lived experience of disability
- Knowledge of sexuality, relationships or disability advocacy
- Experience in health, education, sex work, counselling, or disability services
- A strong interest in ethical and inclusive representation
The Steering Committee will help ensure the project is:
- Ethical and respectful
- Inclusive and representative of diverse disability experiences
- Aligned with community needs and values
- Supportive of participant safety and consent
- Ensure the video series displays a diverse representation of people with disability
Members of the Steering Committee will work with the project team to:
- Advise on inclusive and accessible recruitment approaches
- Suggest networks and communities to reach potential participants
- Provide input into the selection of participants appearing in the videos
- Help ensure diverse representation across disability, gender identity, sexuality, culture, age and relationship experiences
- Ensure the project reflects the perspectives and priorities of the disability community as identified in prior joint statements endorsed by Touching Base Inc and disability peak orgs
Members will be invited to:
- Attend several online meetings during the project development phase
- Review recruitment approaches and provide feedback
- Contribute advice on participant selection which includes a vote on who should be selected
The time commitment is expected to be modest and flexible. We will work with you to schedule the online meetings and you will have adequate time to meet deadlines for decisions and feedback.
Touching Base is committed to ensuring the Steering Committee reflects diverse voices and lived experience. We are looking to form a committee of 6-8 community members who are passionate about sexuality and disability and who are committed to seeing this project through to completion in May 2027. We particularly welcome expressions of interest from people representing diverse disability experiences, gender identities, sexual orientations, cultural backgrounds and communities.
The Steering Committee role is a voluntary position but you will be credited in the video series.
UPDATE: We will be offering a $200 gratis payment at the end of the project to those who attended the meetings.
