Next Sex Worker Training to be held in Brisbane, Queensland

1 Day workshop for sex workers
coming up - November 25th 2008, Brisbane, Queensland
Touching Base Inc is delighted to announce this workshop, supported by Scarlet Alliance - Australian Sex Workers Association, People With Disabilities Australia Inc and Family Planning NSW. This training event is timed to co-incide with the Scarlet Alliance National Forum 26th - 28th November in Brisbane. Sex workers are encouraged to come and join us in sunny Brisbane to attend our unique Professional Disability Awareness Training and the Scarlet Alliance National Forum.

Brothel policy discrimination against disabled

"Port Stephens Councils has deferred consideration of new rules on development controls for brothels and restriced premises.
The council had removed a section of the new controls which would have forced premises such as adult shops and brothels off street level. There had been objections from the councils own disability access committee it would have discriminated against disabled people.But at last month's meeting councillors were concerned that the new policy was still too open and wanted greater restrictions included. There was a suggestion to amend the plan to stop adult shops and brothels from being near bus stops, schools, parks, playgrounds and where families and children gathered.
However the council decided to defer the matter to give more time to properly word further restrictions and check the legality of the changes. A new report was tabled at Tuesday's nights's committee meeting."
